It's extremely difficult to get hired there again, thousands of people fight for a couple hundred spots every year.very similar in NJ, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The LAPD is one of the few departments that has recruitment officers going all around the country trying to find people.they have a "green to blue" program with the military where those recruitment officers go to military bases and try to recruit people who are getting out, and they still can't fill the slots.īy comparison, the NYPD froze hiring for the past 2 years, because they had a backlog of thousands of people who got through the process but still weren't hired.and now that it's re-opened, it takes almost 2 years just to get through the hiring process because it's so crowded by people who want the job every time they offer the exam, thousands of people take it. They can't hire fast enough, seemingly no one wants to be a cop there. The LAPD has been wanting to bring their uniformed officer numbers up to over 10,000, and have had the budget to do so, for almost 5 years now.and they can't break 9,000 from what I understand, they've actually gone down in numbers. Phoenix PD can't find anyone to apply they have PSA's on the news and billboards constantly because it's so bad that they literally can't even cover shifts, apparently. There are many articles right now on Arizona saying it's in a "critical" need for law enforcement officers. Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discountsĮxtremely dependent on the area.literally completely.
